The companies present cooperate closely with the education and research institutions to enhance their competitive edge. An example of this is the joint project "Arctic Cluster Team", where around 20 companies, research institutions and educational institutions cooperate with national authorities to further strengthen the industrial cluster and ensure the they stay competitive in the face of increased global competition. There is a long tradition of companies cooperating closely with the education sector offering industrial work opprtunities and training vocational students towards formal certification (fagbrev).
